Asma Claassen

Asma Claassen was born in Haarlem in 1968. In 1988 she converted to Islam. Since then she has been committed to everything that has anything to do with Islam, education, identity or society. After obtaining her high school diploma, she studied Russian and Arabic at the RUL.

In 1997, together with several other pioneers, she founded the first Islamic toddler group with Dutch as the main language (Ababil). In 2004 she also obtained her PABO diploma. During her work at Islamic primary schools, she started writing some educational Islamic children's books. In 2005, together with several colleagues, she founded her own Foundation, Publisher for Islamic Education, for which she developed, among other things, the Islamic History method.

During her work for the Islamic School Board Organization, Asma Claassen developed various teaching methods, including the Al Amana Islamic Teachings Curriculum for grade 1-6, which has been used with great satisfaction for years in a large number of Islamic primary schools.

In 2015, her bestseller was published, a method for sex education, which included the then new mandatory core objectives of 'sexual diversity', fully designed from an Islamic frame of reference. I

n March 2017, she published the Islamic Teachings Curriculum 'Long Live Islam – a maxi-method for mini-Muslims' for toddlers and preschoolers, in which play and stories are central. Asma Claassen is also the author of most of the Islamic children's books that you will find at SUVIO.
